Statement

Before the crisis went down mid march, I was firing on all cylinders. I directed an immersive art experience called STEAMRAVE while choosing my last college classes and electing new leaders for a club I manage. I spent my precious free time with my best friends of four years and dreamed of a future not so distant. January and February 2020 was an electric, frenetic, blindingly fast moment. In the evenings, when I had the chance, I’d kick back in my room, watch Sex Education, and draw.

There is something apocalyptic about the drawings. Maybe something filtered in from the knowledge that my life would soon change drastically (though I did not know how soon). I think what makes them special is their freedom, that they are created by a strained mind relaxing. They are joyful and sexual, anxious and imposing; but most of all they are limitless. I hope, for now, the drawings can be an escape. In showing them, I want to celebrate and commemorate this time in all of our lives.
